February 2012 Chairman's RamblingsHi All, Thought I would just update everyone on a few items of information further to our meeting in Jan.1) I invited Bob Savage to attend one of our winter sessions and he has agreed to come and address us at the March 29th meeting. I have primed him with a few pointers; eg. What can be done about the availability of examiners in our area? Will the SAA be more responsive in future? And finally, what is the relationship between the SAA and the BMFA. I think it should be an interesting session.2) I have been in touch with our new factor at Smith Gore re flying from the water at the landfill site. Initial reaction was good provided we conformed to H&S rules. However he has been away from the office and I have yet to hear back from him.3) James is in the process of buying us a new stock of fuel.4) For discussion at our next meeting, Alex has determined that the cost of the Buckie school hall is in fact £24 per hour unless you are over 65 or a junior group. Whilst quite a few of us would qualify for the first category it would be a little restrictive! I think we should give it a go anyway but on the basis of pre-booking a place to guarantee sufficient funds to cover the night, as it sounds like an ideal indoor flying venue.5) We have had an e-mail from Dick Graham at Buchan club to advise that their club Fly-in dates are 6th May and 16th September, so our dates will not clash. 6) Finally, Mick will be unable to regale us with the delights of nickel plating on 23rd Feb but Paul has stepped in with a unique video of the Shackeltons of Kinloss.
